About & Donate!

Art of Solidarity (AoS) is a grassroots public arts storytelling organization. We are Baltimore's first and only immigrant youth centered arts organization. We produce documentary films, mural and dance workshops, events, festivals, and murals in partnerships with community leaders, non-profits, businesses, youth, families, residents and volunteers from idea to implementation to celebration.

AoS was cofounded by Nicaraguan-American artist and educator, Maria Gabriela Aldana, and US-based filmmaker Aleks Martray in 2007. Thanks to the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), AoS began as an immersive cultural-exchange and capacity-building study abroad program in Nicaragua! AoS grew into an independent team producing over a dozen films and mural public art projects from Nicaragua and Guatemala to Baltimore, Maryland. We've partnered with Bmore Liberated, We are CASA, Baltimore Musuem of Industry, YouthWorks, Patterson Park Neighborhood Association, Latino Racial Justice Circle, Asylee Women's Enterprise, rural schools, churches, and beyond.

Donate towards our upcoming summer youth internships and Key Bridge stories in 2026! You help AoS 1) empower youth through hands-on creative opportunities and paid employment 2) create intentional spaces for cross-cultural collaboration across generational, racial, ethnic, and cultural barriers 3) research and tell authentic storytelling and 4) celebrate love, life, queer liberation, and freedom of speech. All funds directly support youth apprenticeships, BIPOC artists, and public programs!
