Latinx and Black Youth Artists Organize and Rise!

"Queernesseseseses!" Summer Youth Council launched in 2024, when we planned a new mural to unveil by September 5, 2025. The big LGBTQ mural calls attention to the importance of queer mental health. The painting will face Fayette Ave on the north side of Bmore Liberated, who was a key partner to the community-centered design process facilitated by Maria Gabriela Aldana. Over 80 designs were created as collaborations between YouthWorks and CASA de Maryland youth, who attend high school in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, queer therapists of Bmore Liberated, filmmakers, and a variety of LGBTQ leaders of Baltimore. In 2024, the project earned attention for its documentary shorts, telling the untold stories of LGBTQ change-makers in Baltimore. Youth presented what they learned as part of their internship and launched their careers as this was one of their first paid jobs. Be a part of our team! Donate now at Fractured Atlas!

Did you know Art of Solidarity started in a Baltimore City art class? AoS builds bridges across cultural, racial, economic, geographic, language, and generational barriers to address social justice issues with those most impacted by them. AoS is an expert partner, modeling excellent relationship-building skills for youth to enter into the workforce side-by-side with professionals to combine their stories, concerns, and talents into public works of art. Every summer we partner with local Baltimore organizations and businesses to provide game-changing experiences for immigrant, Black, and at-risk youth entering the work force.
This project is made possibly by the generous funds of Public Arts Across Maryland, a grant of the Maryland State Arts Council, and in partnership with YouthWorks, ESCALERA program of CASA de Maryland, Patterson Park Neighborhood Association, Bmore Liberated, and proud residents!
