Art of Solidarity (AoS) is an organization of professional community-centered artists and partner organizations committed to social and racial justice through the arts. We are teens, young adults, non-profits, schools, libraries, churches, and businesses building stronger multiethnic neighborhoods by creating public art together. "Queernesseseseses" is our current arts project to unveil September 5, 2025! VOTE here for your favorite design. Get into behind-the-scenes photos!
AoS produces media documentaries, workshops, exhibitions, festivals, and murals collaboratively from start to finish. AoS was cofounded by Nicaraguan-American artist and educator, Maria Gabriela Aldana, and US-based filmmaker Aleks Martray in 2007. Thanks to the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), AoS began as a study abroad program in Nicaragua and partnered with Casa de Cultura Leonel Rugama, Muralistas Leonel Rugama, Taller Marmol Oscar Enrique Casco in San Juan de Limay, VIMAU Producciones, schools, churches, and families. AoS grew into an independent organization producing over a dozen films and mural public art projects in Nicaragua, Guatemala, and is based in Baltimore, Maryland. Join Art of Solidarity!
